Here are 10 things to try in Train Sim World 2: Arosalinie: Chur – Arosa

Perfect your driving and braking

Heading downhill with a full train behind you can be a challenge on a gentle grade, the Arosalinie has gradients of up to 6% making it one of the steepest railways in the world. Combined with Train Sim World 2’s adhesion features this presents a real challenge. Perfecting your driving skills to stay on time when heading uphill is important, but learning which brake to use and when to apply them is key to maintaining control of the RhB Ge 4/4 II on your way down the mountain.

Holidaymaker heaven

Thousands of holidaymakers and railway enthusiasts use the line each year. Sitting back and enjoying the scenery is often high up on the list of those that make the journey to the region. The Rhb know this all too well and have designed their EW1 Passenger Coaches to accommodate these tourists. With windows that can be pulled right down, passengers can take in the mountain air and easily get photographs of the wonderful views or the train itself.

Grab the Ibex

There is so much of the route to explore between Chur and Arosa, with lots of hillside stations each with its unique charm. Rivet Games has hidden 70 route tasks for you to find and complete across the route, add 20 missing route maps, take scenic snaps on the 10 polaroid cameras and pick up 20 snow globes and 20 cute Ibex toys. Jump on and off the train and complete them all!

Railfan shots galore

The Alps offer amazing views, making Arosalinie one the most scenic railways in the world. This makes it incredibly easy to get inspiring and artist photographs of trains, heading up or down the mountain. We suggest you take some time to pick your vantage point and take the perfect Railfan shot for yourself. Not only will this be available for you to enjoy on your Dovetail live account each time you log in, but it can also be entered into our weekly screenshot competition that is run on the official Dovetail Games forum.

No bridge too far

There are 41 bridges you will drive over Between Chur and Arosa stations. Some are fairly conventional, however, the vast majority either are an incredible feat of engineering, or they offer wonderful views across valleys and rivers. It would be unjust to cover the route's bridges without mentioning the Langwieser Viaduct. Built in 1914, it remains one of the world's most famous railway viaducts. Sitting on the hillside adjacent to the bridge is Langwies GR station, Jump out here and you will be able to see trains arriving and leaving with ease. Of course, you can always experience this from the comfort of the Ge 4/4 II driver's seat.

Join the traffic

In a first for Train Sim World 2, the area of the line around the town of Chur is a road running section. You will be joining the local traffic in the winding streets of the old town as you approach the foot of the mountain pass. This presents a different type of driving and your ability to stop in the right place and on time will help the other road users. Fear not, Rivet Games have carefully programmed the traffic to be as conscientious towards you as you are to them.

All Weathers

With the height above sea level climbing to 1739 metres, It's hardly a surprise that the deep valleys and tall mountains that the route makes its way past often experiences adverse weather conditions. Most railways would struggle to function in some of the weather experienced, but Arosalinie continues to run all year round. Snowy landscapes and brilliant white trees greet the Railfan whos happy to brave the weather to enjoy this amazing experience. Why not explore the route in all types of weather by creating your own scenario using Scenario Planner!

Stopping and starting

Rivet Games has gone that extra mile to ensure real running practices were included, increasing the sense of immersion. Before you can leave the station you can push the guard signal situated on the station platform, this changes the outbound signal and alerts the driver that all passengers are on board and the train is safe to leave. The route's requests stops have also been considered, Rivet Games has included stop request buttons both on the platform and on the train itself. Although they are visual features, this great added detail really adds to the immersion of the route.

Mixed traffic

In addition to the hundreds of passengers that use the line annually, Arosalinie is regularly used to transport freight to, and from the mountainside towns and villages. There are a total of 84 timetable services for you to enjoy throughout a 24-hour timetable, and five pre-made scenarios. Two of these scenarios involving trains of wagons used for transporting heavy logs. giving you an insight into the varied daily routine of this busy route.

A creative touch

The Rhb often apply unique and contemporary liveries to their locomotives and rolling stock to mark notable anniversaries, and to promote all manner of products and sponsors. These designs are often striking and very different in design to conventional liveries. Why not create your own using the Livery Designer tool in Train Sim World 2! What would your personal Ge 4/4 II look like?
