Experience Union Pacific-era railroading on two great mountain routes – Soldier Summit and Feather River Canyon!
Union Pacific’s appeal to train enthusiasts and its fame have been monumental dating all the way back to the building of the transcontinental railroad 150 years ago – and that appeal grew even greater in the latter half of the twentieth century when Union Pacific dramatically expanded through mergers. Now, Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02 brings to life contemporary and challenging Union Pacific railroading on two famed western mountain railroads that joined the UP system through merger – the Denver & Rio Grande Western and the Western Pacific!
From High Iron Simulations and featuring ten highly realistic career scenarios on Train Simulator’s popular Soldier Summit + Salt Lake City Route Extension and Feather River Canyon routes, Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02 takes you from the Wasatch Mountains of Utah to the fabulous Sierra Nevada Mountains of California for Union Pacific railroading along the ex-D&RGW and Western Pacific main lines.
In the ten career scenarios of Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02, which are based upon actual UP operations and train symbols, you’ll experience a variety of contemporary freight duties ranging from high-priority intermodals to lugging coal, manifest, and aggregates tonnage, handling locals, and working yard-switching chores. You’ll experience diverse diesel power including distinctive Union Pacific SD70M, SD40-2, and GP40-2 road and local motive power as well UP’s unique rebuilt SW10 “Hammerhead” switchers. And you’ll work aboard Union Pacific’s modern and flashy “Heritage Fleet” SD70Aces that honor the D&RGW and Western Pacific!
Note: This scenario pack requires the Train Simulator Sherman Hill route (for equipment) and select scenarios also require the Soldier Summit + Salt Lake City Route Extension; the Feather River Canyon route; Union Pacific Heritage ACes Loco Add-On; and/or GP40-2 Loco Add-On. All required content is available at the Steam Store.
The rugged mountains of the fabulous America West – and all the challenges and drama of modern Union Pacific railroading – await you in Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02, now available at the Steam Store! – Gary Dolzall
Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02 includes ten career scenarios based upon UP operations that bring to life contemporary Union Pacific railroading on two famed mountain railroads which joined the UP system through merger – the Denver & Rio Grande Western and the Western Pacific. In the multi-part scenario “Union Pacific CSKVY,” you’ll be the engineer of UP’s Heritage Fleet SD70ACe honoring the D&RGW and work a heavy coal train west across Soldier Summit. On the Gilluly Loops, UP SD70ACe 1989 leads the way and the rear DPU unit is visible in the distance. Hidden around the bend is a mid-train DPU. Screenshots by Gary Dolzall.
More heavy hauling on Soldier Summit awaits you in the scenario “The Dirty Dirt Train,” an unusual but regular movement on the UP that transports contaminated dirt from California’s Peninsula to a landfill at Columbia Junction, Utah. The trio of UP SD70Ms charged with powering the heavy train are at the western base of the Gilluly Loops as another train climbs the grade (above), while later, on the east slope of Soldier Summit, the dirt train meets a hotshot intermodal (below).
Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02 delivers the opportunity to handle switching work aboard Union Pacific’s unique SW10 “Hammerhead” diesels on both the Train Simulator Soldier Summit + Salt Lake City Route Extension and Feather River Canyon routes. In the scenario “Salt Lake City Switcher,” you’ll tend to the lineside industries in downtown Salt Lake City (above), and in the career scenario “Hometown Hammerhead,” you’ll be challenged with switching chores around Oroville, California (below).
Local work on the ex-Western Pacific Feather River Canyon route is your assigned duty in the career scenario “Canyon Crawler,” as you employ a pair of veteran Union Pacific SD40-2s on UP local symbol freight LRR65, which was nicknamed the “Canyon Crawler.” UP SD40-2 3150 and a sister are making set-outs and pick-ups at Quincy Junction, California.
It is a memorable railroading sight for massive stack trains to move through the rugged Feather River Canyon. In the two-part scenario “Stacks through the Canyon,” you are the engineer of UP intermodal train KLTG2 (operating from Lathrop, Calif. To Chicago’s Global 2 Terminal) making the eastbound climb of the Canyon with UP Heritage Fleet SD70ACe 1983 honoring the Western Pacific on the point (above and below).
Union Pacific symbol manifest MNPRVB (North Platte, Nebraska to Roseville, California) can be found operating via either the UP’s Donner Pass route or the Feather River Canyon, and the latter is the case on a winter day in the scenario “UP Symbol MNPRVB.” You are the engineer of the manifest with GP40-2s as power as the freight makes it way east through the rugged and snowy Feather River Canyon.
Challenging and captivating Union Pacific modern freight railroading in the rugged mountains of the fabulous America West awaits you in the latest popular scenario pack from High Iron Simulations – and Union Pacific Scenario Pack 02 is now available at the Steam Store!
