Boss Fish Friday
Here you will find a weekly thread of top tip sheets on how to find and net specific Boss Fish. Boss Fish in The Catch: Carp & Coarse are notorious for being a challenge. You will need all your skill to land one of these monster fish. Bait, Rig, Location & Time of day all play a big factor in how to successfully catch these Boss fish. The Bull - River Ebro This week we are kicking things off with The Bull on River Ebro! The Bull along with The Matador are a couple of the hardest fish to catch in the game, which is exactly why we are starting with it. Blingo - Pearl Lake Today's Boss Fish is Blingo on Pearl Lake. Don't let Blingo's shiny scales fool you, this fish won't go down without a fight. Blingo can be found allover the lake so you'll need to make sure you have the right equipment. Stoorworm - Loch Mickle This Friday we are taking a closer look at Stoorworm the Northern Pike on Loch Mickle. Stoorworm is often seen around the most southern part of the Loch. Be careful though, this Northern Pike packs a punch and will be sure to challenge your skill. The Matador - River Ebro For this week’s Boss Fish Friday, we are going back to River Ebro and looking at the hardest fish to catch in the game, The Matador. To catch this Boss, you’ll need to hop on a boat as The Matador is a touch out of reach from the bank. The Unicorn - Loch Mickle Today we are looking at The Unicorn on Loch Mickle. This Arctic Char is sure to give you a run for your money once you get it on the line, and you'll know you've caught it once you spot that hooked bottom lip. Alice - Oxlease This week's Boss Fish is Alice the Mirror Carp on Oxlease. One of the harder to catch Mirror Carp in the game, this one will have you smiling from ear to ear when you catch her. Burns - Lock Mickle Our Christmasy Boss Fish Friday is Burns on Loch Mickle. This Brown Trout is the biggest bully on the loch, will you catch him? Wiktoria - Jezioro Bestii New year, new Boss fish. Today we are looking at Wiktoria on Jezioro Bestii. This one is up there as one of our favourite looking fish and is definitely one for the photo album. Outlaw - Rotterdam This week you’ll need to put your crime fighting hat on and try to catch the biggest criminal on Rotterdam – Outlaw. Little hog - Lock Mickle Today's Boss Fish is Little Hog on Loch Mickle. This muscular chub will not be caught without a fight. The Tiger - Oxlease Today we head over to Oxlease to take a closer look at The Tiger. This Ghost Carp has no relation to its feline friends, but it sure fights like one. Nancy Jo - Pearl Lake This week we are in the sunny depths of Pearl Lake and Nancy Jo the Jullien's Golden Carp is the fish we are tackling. Wobbles - Rotterdam Today we are taking a closer look at Wobbles the Eel on Rotterdam. Using the size 2 hook for this one is going to ensure you're only catching the heavier eels! Francesco - River Ebro Swinging over to sunny River Ebro today to get some hints and tips on catching Francesco the chub. Remi - Jezioro Bestii Today we head back into the mountains to see how to catch Remi the European Perch. Remi is small but fierce, so make sure you are ready for a fight! Tall Tale - Oxlease This week we are hunting Tall Tale, one of three Northern Pike Boss Fish on Oxlease. A tricky one to catch, we recommend putting all three rods to use to catch this one! Glen - Loch Mickle We are back on Loch Mickle this week to take a look for Glen the Rainbow Trout. A stunning looking Boss Fish this week, so make sure you share your screenshots with us on our social channels! Olive - River Ebro For today's Boss Fish Friday we are taking a look at how to catch Olive the Barbel on River Ebro. A tricky one to catch, we recommend either sunset or night-time for this one! We recommend using all 3 rods for this one. Gomez - River Ebro Today we are back in the sun and looking at Gomez the European Perch on River Ebro. We recommend while using the lure you have the other rods set up with some size 8 hooks and bloodworms. Bonnie - Loch Mickle We are back with Boss Fish Fridays this week and we are on Loch Mickle! You'll want to crack out the lures for this one and get ready to fish under the stars. Goblin - Pearl Lake Today we are on Pearl Lake and hunting for Goblin the Red Pacu! We recommend you setup a peg and using two rods with baits such as Dynamite Source Boilies or catfish pellets, and then a lure on the third rod. Hazmat - Loch Mickle Let's take a closer look at Loch Mickle's hazardous Boss Fish, Hazmat. This one's not too far from the launch point so jump in your boat, and head over to the marked spot on the map! Aqua - River Ebro This weeks Boss Fish is on the sunny River Ebro. Aqua is going to give you a challenge as you battle it into the net, deadbaits are a great choice for this fearless predator. Pudgy - Oxlease Today we are hunting Pudgy on Oxlease. You'll want to head out at Sunset and try several spots as Pudgy moves all round the venue. Delft - Rotterdam This weeks Boss Fish Friday is Delft on Rotterdam. You can catch Delft all over the venue and at two different times, so you have plenty of options to hunt this one down! Phillippa - Loch Mickle We are heading over to Loch Mickle today to try and find Phillippa the Atlantic Salmon. Make sure to head out at night, you won't have far to travel from the eastern dock. Aragon - River Ebro Today's Boss Fish is on River Ebro. Aragon will be an excellent addition to anyone's catch list. You'll want to head out when the sun starts dipping for this one. Zach - Pearl Lake This week we're on sunny Pearl lake tracking down the fruit munching dunce that is Zach. You'll want to be out and ready to fish at sunrise, good luck! Saffron - River Ebro Today's Boss Fish is Saffron on River Ebro. This Zander has a big appetite, so you'll want to stock up on deadbaits if you want to net this one! Freckles - Loch Mickle This weeks Boss Fish Friday goes by the name of Freckles. Freckles is an Artic Char found in Loch Mickle. Freckles is a bit of night out so pack a torch... and probably a snack.

An enthralling season has reached its end and we can reveal the Angler of the Month for July on each platform. We saw late surges for the lead and some super close finishes in some series. Our results round up starts with Xbox. Xbox One The three week season on Xbox One was hotly contested. So much so that one of the series was decided by just a single point. Wicksy was also our winner in the Carp Series, securing the top spot in the final week. ScoobyHaze420 took a second place finish to cement his place at the top of the Coarse Series leaderboard. The two wins early on the season had put II T0PD0LLAR II in an excellent position heading in to the final week and they were able to capitalise on this and take home the Predator Series win. And now a huge congratulations goes to WicksySPY442 as he comes out on top and is our first Xbox One Angler of the Month for The Catch: Carp & Coarse! Two series wins and second place in the Predator Series puts him top of the Angler of the Month Leaderboard. He was also our winner in the Predator Series, locking down that top spot with a win in week 4. The July Angler of the Month award for PlayStation goes to bobcin3! Get to know Claudia Darga
Claudia Darga is one of the top anglers in Europe and you can compete against her in the offline events of The Catch: Carp & Coarse. Recently you will have seen her on our pages playing the game as well as providing advice for those getting started as an angler. Who is Claudia and how did she get in to fishing? Read on to find out. How did you get into carp fishing? My interest definitely started with the previous relationship to my boyfriend, who is a pretty successful carp angler. He took me one time with him to the bank and the first trip was amazing for me. From this day on I was infected by this amazing sport and I joined mostly all sessions that he did during the years. One day I decided not being only a visitor, instead, I decided to become an active angler. So from time to time I started to catch my first fish, made my own tactics and used my favourite baits. I would say that 90% I go for carp, because this is the style of fishing I am most addicted to 😀. For me, it is different to all other styles of fishing. I love the relaxed part of it. However, during the last two years I tried more and more other styles of fishing. So I also tried the hard to fish for predator fish such as bass, zander and catfish. But I also try to go fishing during my holidays and try out new things. However, I always come to the conclusion that carp fishing is the style of fishing I like most. What’s your earliest fishing memory? This was when I was a little girl, guess around 7 or 8 years old. I went fishing with my dad in Poland. We went fishing from the boat and to be totally honest I can’t remember what we were trying to catch. But I think my dad just tried to catch something no matter which kind of fish. Just remember that we had worms, maggots and corn. Back then fishing for me was really boring because my dad said I can’t talk and move cause we are fishing from the boat. If I would move I am going to scare the fish. Therefore I sat on the boat and were waiting and waiting and waiting. My dad was never a good angler and actually I can’t remember that we ever caught something. Nevertheless for my Dad it was always important to show me and my sister where the fish come from and how to kill and cook it. After our unsuccessful fishing trip we drove to a fishing farm and bought some fish and killed it by ourself. Guess this was something very important back then for me as well because my dad showed me everything, I was never disgusted. Are you an out and out carp angler or are there any other styles you love? Of course I have tried a lot from time to time. For example a variety of predator fish as pike, perch, zander and catfish. But also Perch and tench were my targeted fish. But also fishing for exotic species as Siamese carp or Arapaima I have done. But always coming to the conclusion that carp fishing is by far the best fishing style. Therefore, my focus is on carp. I would say that 90% I go for carp, because this is the style of fishing I am most addicted too. For me, it is different to all other styles of fishing. What is your favourite thing about fishing? I have tried so many different styles of fishing. And also compared to other leisure activities, this is what I like most. As it combines so many things I love! I love the nature, I love animals and I love the silence, I love to chill and hang out with friends and I really love to sleep. This is all possible when fishing for carp. For me one weekend out at the bank is almost like one week vacation. It is more than just catching big carps. It is so much that attracts me to do this fantastic hobby. But of course the best part of it is when you know your tactic worked out and you are catching a good fish. My second best moment is the sound of the bite alarm and the third is when releasing a big fish and realizing again how big and peaceful it was. It all contributes a little bit to my passion for carp fishing. All of that attracted me from the beginning and is still what I love about it. What’s your most memorable catch/what is your personal best? My most memorable catch happened during one of my last sessions some years ago. I have seen this fish three years swimming in my most favorite lake. It has been caught only once approx. 5 years ago. It is a stunning Koi carp called Nemo. I have observed it always during summer time in the shallow water while sunbathing. It is so unbelievably beautiful. In late summer last year I could not believe my eyes when this fish came up in front of my landing net! It was one of my best fishing moments when seeing it the first time. Because I wanted to catch it so hard! Once it was in the landing net I was just shocked about what had happened! This fish was exactly 10kg and was my most beautiful and probably one of the most unique fish I have ever seen. At what point did you realise you could make angling your career? This was about three years ago when I realize that I am having kinda two fulltime jobs. The last years I have worked in the logistics and I loved it every single second. But then after some time I felt that I was extremly busy with everything around fishing. And by that I don’t mean the actual fishing I mean all the writing, organising, editing videos and pictures and so on. Then I realised with all the work around it I could make it a fulltime job. What’s your number 1 tip you give to new anglers? The first I always say is to be patient. Nowadays many beginners have the impression that fishing is very easy and that you can catch big fish very quickly. Last but not least the impression comes from social media. There are often the big fish presented although it is also a long way to get there. Also with me some people seem to think that when I am on the water, I am always catching fish but this is not the reality. Every angler, no matter how successful he is, has days when he catches nothing. So I think patience is really important. Don't give up as soon as you go home without catching a fish. I am not discouraged when I'm blanking, but I think about what I can improve next time, it was the wrong bait or the wrong place. There is no 100% formula for sucessful fishing, it is a mixture of patience and creativity. What gaming experience do you have? When I was younger, I played a lot. No matter whether it was on the PC or the PlayStation or Game Boy. I also met with friends to play with, somehow everyone was gaming. My weakness is that once I start I can't stop easily. For example, when I went shopping with my mother, I always took my Game Boy with me and couldn't let it go while shopping. And when I wasn't being good, you can guess what I got as punishment... right she took my games away :-P

Get to know Rob Hughes
Rob Hughes is one of the leading carp anglers in England and you can pit your wits against him when competing in single player events in The Catch: Carp & Coarse. Who is Rob and how did he build a career in which he has represented England at world championship and How did you get into carp fishing? It would be the late 80s when I properly became a carp angler. I’d chased them before that with varying degree of success but the bivvy and bed chair arrived around 1988. What’s your earliest fishing memory? Standing in the water in my wellies at Middleton Pool near Oswestry in Shropshire trying to catch gudgeon...and not let the water go over the top of said wellies. Are you an out and out carp angler or any other styles you love? I’m primarily a carp angler but my TV series takes me to all sorts of places to fish for all sorts of things. I love small rivers and also light lure fishing for perch and LRF fishing in the sea. What is your favourite thing about fishing? It’s so wide and varied, both in what you can do and what you get from it. I love competing internationally for my country, it’s a real buzz, but equally I love the solitude and adventure of wild waters...Man v fish. What’s your most memorable catch/what is your personal best? Catching the most sought after carp in the world at the time, a fish called Bernadette at 63lbs (29kg), from the Mecca of carp fishing, Lac de St Cassien in France is my most memorable individual capture, but becoming World Champion takes a lot of beating, then being appointed England Manager and steering the national team to it’s first Team World Championships title will be my angling highlight. At what point did you realise you could make angling your career? After Simon Crow and I won the World Cup in 1996 the offers started to come in to make a career of the sport, and in 1999 I took the plunge having finished my legal studies and qualified as a lawyer. What’s your number 1 tip you give to new anglers? Think! About what you do, why you do and how you do it. Don’t overcomplicate things, but do think. Automatic fishing doesn’t get automatic results. What gaming experience do you have? In my teens I used to love it and then life, career and family took over. My son is really into it and I have a dabble now and again. I’m looking forward to playing the son though.
